and the 60th anniversary
of his first sub-four-minute mile were widely covered in the media a few weeks
ago. Did you ever wonder how fast you could cover one mile? Well, I am keen to
know! Therefore, I intend to organise an informal 1 mile road race in Midleton.
Date: Thursday
5th June
Course: Start
at the 2 mile mark, finish at the 1 mile mark of the Midleton 5 mile course
Time: 8pm,
traffic should be calmer around that time
We can meet at 7.30pm at
the 1 mile mark, plenty of space to leave your car, bike, water bottles etc. do
a good warm-up run to the 2 mile mark and some stretching. We will need two
cars (or bikes), one in front and one at the back – volunteers needed! I
created a doodle counter to get an indication of how many will turn up on the

This will be an
unofficial race, we can call it a training event for Midleton AC members to
keep numbers under control.
Informal,
self-timing, no bells and whistles – just running.
