Sionna Relay (This may be of interest)

Dear Midleton AC.
You may have already heard about the Sionnach Ralay, a fun overnight relay event to be held in Sligo on the 26-27th of July 2014. Sionnach Relay Athletics Ireland Permit Certificate number are 14/437 and 14/438. It's a new concept to Ireland so we have put together a short video on our website that explains it all for you. Visit and have a look. We are reaching out to Athletics clubs and sports enthusiasts of all levels to get involved either by entering a team or by providing volunteers.
The Sionnach Relay is Ireland's first overnight relay event, with teams of 8 competing to complete 4x8Km loops. Each runner runs individually then after handing off to the next runner, they then have a break in between each loop as the rest of the team members are running.
Don't have 8 runners? Not a problem. We can match you with teams and individuals via our Facebook page or twitter @sionnachrelay.
As you are well aware, a key characteristic of success is strong team spirit and ethos, our event is a great opportunity to build and promote just that. You can hang out as a team, have fun and raise money, wither for your own club via JustGiving or for the Irish cancer Society, our official charity partner. A percentage of your entry fee directly supports the charity and individuals who raise $100 for the Irish cancer Society receive an extra medal for their efforts.
Between runs there will be on-site entertainment while you rest at The Hub, or, if you are still buzzing, why not take advantage of the discounts we have arranged with the local sporting groups such as surfing in Strandhill or stand-up paddle boarding along the Garavogue River. For the less energetic there is the opportunity to stroll down through Sligo Town to experience the "Thread Softly Summer Festival" or just enjoy the atmosphere and beautiful coastal scenery that Sligo has to offer. Camping space at The Hub is provided for each team as part of your booking or you can book into one of the many local B&Bs or hotels.
Take a look at our website for more detail and Please add Sionnach Relay Event  to you list of upcoming events
Regards Liam.
