Cross Country

Ladies Team Win Silver

Some great running again today from our cross country crew. First off was Eileen Leahy running a great race in the Ladies Intermediate where she finished  fifth overall and showed how her speedwork is paying off with a brilliant finish. Next up came our Novice B Ladies and here again were saw some very good running with nice tight packing from all the girls Aoife Fouhy our first lady home showed some true cross country talent in that this was her first ever cross country next came the ever improving Gillian Bransfield running her fastest 4Km ever followed by Anne Marie Perry only one place behind and again showed true talent in that this was also her first cross country race. Next came Margaret Twohig as always solid as a rock holding her position and picking off runners all the time. Their finishing places were 7,9,10,12 which just shows what good packing they achieved and they took the Silver medals losing out by only a few points.Well done ladies.
Our men's team also ran a great race finishing 4th team overall and losing out on the bronze by only a few points. There were far too many to comment on individual performances but everyone performed superbly well One must mention Rod Scanlan's super sprint at the finish and Brian Harty epic battle to hold his place.Well done all each one of you played your part in a great days running for your club.

As most of you know, the new 5k parkrun at the Tramore Valley Park in Cork City was cancelled last Saturday based on a safety review. The good news for parkrun fans is that is is back!

The main reason for the review was because of parking. The organisers of the parkrun ask runners to consider car pooling or to park on the South Douglas Road and access the park via the Half-Moon lane.
Saturday 17th Oct at 9:30am.
