Something Different
Whilst most of the crew went to Dungarvan or Little Island Siobhan Murphy headed for a run in Clonakilty which consisted of 6.7Km of woodland, trail and beach where the goodie bag consisted of a free tree to take hope. Now that is a goodie bag with a difference.
Janssen 6 Km
We had several athletes here this morning and some of them went on to support at the Dungarvan 10 after Little Island. Our Ladies did very well here with prizes Marian Aherne 1st O/45, Mary O’Keeffe 1st O/50, Joan McCarthy 3rd O/55 and Kathleen O’Connell 2nd O/60 whilst Donie O’Connell 3rd O/65. Ladies team Midleton Town Council (Marian and Mary) took 2nd Team in Grade A. Paul Spiteri had another fantastic run here as he continues to improve with every race.Well done everyone.
DUNGARVAN 10 Mile.
We had a huge crowd from the club here and there was some great performances. The whole event in typical West Waterford AC style went off wonderfully as usual. We had one prize winner here and once again it was Neilus Aherne who took 1st O/60 in 1.04.14.
The two big ones this weekend are the John Tracey 10 Mile in Dungarvan at 1.30 and the Janssen 6Km in Little Island at 11am and we wish all runners the very best as always. Please come out and support your clubmates if you are not running.
Senior Club AGM
The Adult Club will hold its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, Feb 7th at 8.00pm in My Place (on the Mill Road, Midleton).
The purpose of the meeting is, primarily, to elect (or re-appoint) Club Officers and Committee Members for the coming year.
Anna Doris, Club Captain for our 50th Anniversary Year of 2016, has decided to step down, having put in Trojan work during the past year. Anna was also Club Treasurer. She will not be making herself available for re-election.
As you know, the day-to-day running of our Club does not happen automatically and depends on the support and goodwill of members to get involved and play an active part in ensuring the ongoing success and development of the Club. The more people who are willing to get involved as officers or committee members, the less workload on any individual and the more enjoyable the experience. We would particularly like to see new faces volunteering – as this brings new ideas and energy, essential for Club development.
You are ALL invited and encouraged to attend.
If anyone is interested in playing a role, as an officer or committee member, please let any of the current committee know in advance, if possible.
Message from Committee Member Edmond O'Sullivan
“Members….come on, enough of the hurling on the ditch,,, now is your chance to get in there and make things happen!! As with any club, a healthy turnover at the top table is absolutely essential in keeping our club alive, alert, responsive, dynamic and, most importantly….FRIENDLY and FUN. This is your club, your hobby, your social crutch….so why not do your bit!! Have a chat with any of the committee members and/or turn up for our AGM……and no it is most definitely not a stuffy formal them and us type of AGM!!! “ Edmond
