WEEKEND RUNAROUND

NEWSFLASH

News just in Neilus Aherne has added another National Medal to his growing collection when he won Bronze in the National Masters Indoors in Athlone today. This is his first national medal in the indoors. No doubt the first of many. Well done once again Neilus.

Killeagh 4 Mile

A great crowd turnrd out on Sunday morning for the annual Killeagh 4 Mile. We had lots of runners there and all ran very well especially considering the very bad conditions of wind and heavy rain. The race itself was very well organised with results available very soon after the finish. Well done to all involved.
We had one prize winner Kathleen O'Connell who took 1st O/60.

Help Needed

We have been given the opportunity to sell the 50th anniversary T-shirts and books on the day in Ballycotton.  Are there any supporters/injured runners (!) who would like to spare an hour or two? We are looking for a few people to help man the stand from about 10.45 - 12.45. Any help would be very much appreciated.

PHOTO
We would like to get the traditional photo before the race, with as many Midleton AC runners as possible.  This will be done up at the pitch and putt car park at 12.45.  It would be great to see you all there.

STORAGE CAR

As what has now become the tradition Donie O'Connell will have a car positioned on the cliff car park to store in safety all club members gear during the race if members wish to avail of it.

Bus to Ballycotton 10

We are hoping to organise a bus to take members and supporters to Ballycotton 10 on the morning of the race. Cost 5 Euro. We need to know IMMEDIATELY how many are interested so as to know what size bus etc Please contact Sally @ 0872265857.

POST RACE PARTY

Our Social Committee  have organised a get together in the Maple Lounge Main Street for 8pm after the Ballycotton 10. Finger food will be served. This is always a great night and is open to all members whether you ran or not. No need to book. Just turn up and enjoy this great occasion.

Reminder of Cork County Road Championships

The Cork County Road Championships take place on Friday, March 17 at 10.00 am in Castlelyons. This is a 4 mile road race with a separate race for men and women, with each race incorporating novice and masters categories.
Thank you to all those who have already come forward to be entered.  When this event was held in Midleton two years ago, we had close to 50 Midleton AC athletes taking part. Castlelyons is a very short journey and the race is short and early, so no excuse to not come and support your club in a championship race.  These are the races we should be giving preference to.  A small group from Midleton AC competed last year and won several medals.  Let's see if we can improve on that this year.  This is a race suitable for all levels of ability and not primarily for 'serious' runners.
Entries have to be made in advance.  So please let me know if you would like to be entered.
Kind regards,
Sally
