WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Maurice Ring Our Man For The Sun

Huge  "WELL DONE" to our club mate Maurice Ring who completed the Viking Half Marathon in Waterford on Saturday morning in a fine time. It was really hot and tough out there but Maurice finished the 13.1 miles in fine style.
Courtmacsherry 10 Km

We had two runners here tonight Margaret Jones and Bernie Twomey. Both found it very tough going which it is even at the best of times not alone an evening like this evening. They finished 46th and 53rd respectively.
There was four hundred and forty six runners registered for this race and two hundred and forty turned up to run.

Inch 5Km

In The Prizes Once Again

We had a fine crew out representing our club on Friday evening at the Inch 5Km promoted by Youghal AC. Over a tough course on a very warm evening we saw some great running from the one hundred runners who took part.
Our prize winners were Sally Drennan who got 1st O/50 and Joan McCarthy 1st O/60.
Our men were Ger O'Regan 1st O/45 and John Cashman 1st O/50.

Courtbrack 5Km

Sinead Keavney wins.

On the first anniversary of the loss of the Shanagarry 5 Mile two members from the club ventured to Courtbrack (outside Blarney) on Thursday evening for the Courtbrack 5Km. What we lacked in numbers we made up for in talent with a fantastic run and win by Sinead Keavney.
On a very warm evening (as we well know) and over a very hilly course Sinead clocked 18.24 to emerge an easy winner. Well done Sinead great to see you back on the podium once again. Danny

The Captain Calling Re The Greenway
 Half Marathon
Well done to all Midleton AC who put in fantastic performances last night in Ballincollig, PBs, wins and suntans, all doing very nicely.

Quick call out for the Greenway half marathon going live Monday 2nd July at 9am. This is scheduled for Saturday September 8th

Last year, we had a great Midleton AC contingent and not only was a scenic downhill, reasonable priced race, it was an organised and ‘flaithiúil.

A typical West Waterford AC race in other words. And we were even home for lunch time.

Whether you are using it as a training long run for Dublin or racing it, it would be great to have a good Midleton AC contingent and we might even Boogie bus it down. Although they have increased the limit to 750, it is likely to be sold out that day. So no delays in making that decision!

V M Ware 5Km Ballincollig

How wonderful to see so many from our club at this race this evening. Far too many to mention them all. It was still very hot at 8pm when the race started and despite it being a very nice course there were not many PBs. but we had some very fine running and prize winners too.

Our first Lady home was Helen Gilroy having another great run. She finished 4th overall and took the 1st O/50 prize. Edwin Cashman was our first man home and led the Midleton Town Council team to victory. Also on the team were Derek Aherne and the third team member and having a brilliant run whilst getting a PB was Michael Abernethy. They took 1st Team in Grade B. James Long had a great run with 17.59 breaking the 18min barrier and getting a PB.

Edmond O'Sullivan was also an individual prize winner taking 2nd O/55 whilst Paul Geary running for the host team V M Wear was part of the 1st Grade C team winners.

It was a really well organised event with a very efficient spread after and some great prizes to be had.
