Merck Millipore 5Km
A total of three hundred and forty two runners ran the Merck Millipore 5km in Carrigtwohill on a wet and windy evening. It was ran over a new course for the race which is the course for the annual Carrigtwohill 5Km which comes up in July so it was good advertising for that race.
We had a great crew running and a great crowd supporting the runners also we had several members helping with the stewarding etc. as many of our members work there.
As always lately we were in the prizes and our sole male prize winner was Edmond O'Sullivan coming 3rd O/55.
Our ladies did very well with Sheila Buckley 2nd O/35 and Helen Gilroy doing her first 5Km in over a year taking 1st O/50. Our ladies also took team prizes with Midleton Town Council with 2nd Grade A ( Helen and Sheila) and also 2nd in Grade C (Marian Aherne and Caroline Cashman).
Caroline Cashman had a fantastic run not only smashing her thirty minute barrier to get a new PB she also picked up her first team prize.
So well done all and well done to Merck for a very successful evening in your new venue and new course.
For those of you following the PB streak that some of our members have been having of late you will be sorry to hear that Derek Aherne did NOT get a PB tonight (the wind and rain did not help) so its up to Ger O'Regan tomorrow night in Coolagown to continue the streak.
