Irish Runner

Several people have said to me that they have been unable to get a copy of the current issue of the Irish Runner with our own Peter Gunning's article in it. I am happy to say it is now back in stock in McCarthy's Newsagents (after selling out) so you can get your copy there. Danny

Donoughmore 7 Mile

Never a club not to "Take The Challenge" we have had runners at Donoughmore since it started and Thursday night was no exception.  We had four runners here Neilus Aherne who came 1st O/60 once again and Sheila Buckley who got 2nd O/35. Also running were John Cashman and also it was great to see Anne Marie Perry back in action with a fine run. The event was as it always has been very well organised and a credit to the host club.

Daniel Kingston 5Km

The Daniel Kingston annual 5Km took place on Thursday evening in Macroom (The first anniversary of the Shanagarry 5 Mile). On a fine evening Helen Gilroy once again showed her class in coming 2nd Lady overall. Mick Murphy took 2nd O/45 and Edwin Cashman was our first man home coming 8th overall in a time of 17.41. Michael Abernethy had a very fine run and continues to improve in every race. Ian Kohler also had a good run.

Please keep sending in your reports as your fellow club mates really do want to read about your races etc. All reports are very welcome. email to mdtacinfo@gmail.com or text, what's app etc. 0872403940 Danny

Tralee 10Km

First report of the weekend in from outside the county bounds where Esther Murphy ran a 10Km in Tralee in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation on Thursday evening. It went out a very scenic route to Blennerville after starting in Tralee Town Park where it finished also.

Lanzarote 2018 Winter Training camp
 in the sun

This trip to Lanzarote is still on despite the poor response initially. A quick check around identified that people could not commit to go from this far out due to summer holiday commitments etc. So the plan is to revisit and put a demand out in early September. In the meantime, keep the dates in mind as they will not change….depart Cork 2pm on Thursday 8th November, return flight 2pm from Lanzarote on Tuesday 13th . Ideal centrally located self-catering apartments coming in at €30 per person per night. Flights approx €200. Approx outlay = €350. We need a group of 10 to 16 for this trip to take place. Watch this space out in September….
