WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Hills Of The Harbour Triathlon

Starting at 12.30 on Sunday the Hills Of The Harbour Triathlon took place in Whitegate. The late start was for tidal reasons. We had three club members taking park and all did well. Our three ladies were Sally Drennan, Alanna Drennan and Susan Fitzgerald.
Sally was 3rd Lady overall, Alanna won 1st Juvenile and not to be outdone Susan was 1st O/45.
Well done all amazing stuff on such a blistering hot afternoon.

Some Like It Hot

Cahir Half Marathon

We had five runners there today Saturday and with a 2pm start it was 26 Degrees making it very tough running. Helen Gilroy, Sheila Buckley, Mick Murphy Richard Power and Kevin Moran. I am happy to report all got around safely and have rehydrated well after as recommended by their coach.

Whitegate 4 Mile Robbie Steele Memorial

Some of you I am sure will not even recognise what the above picture is. It is the race results done manually and pinned to the wall within ten minutes of the race finishing. So much for chip timing.

A great crowd turned out for the Robbie Steele Memorial race and walk in Whitegate on Thursday evening, It was great to see so many from our club there. We had a huge crew and it always amazes me as to why other clubs  do not support it as much. It is a wonderfully organised event and a great cause and deserving of much support.

All the crew had fine runs with Paul Geary getting a PB by over thirty seconds. Helen Gilroy was our first lady home finishing fourth overall and taking 1st O/50 prize. James Long who is improving with every race was our first man home.
Eileen Leahy took the 4th Lady prize and it was great to see Gillian Bransfield show her class and take 2nd O/35 and get a PB as well. Whilst Martha McNamara was back in the prizes once again taking 1st O/55. All in all another great night in Whitegate and they even organised a little cooling breeze for the runners after the scorcher of the day. Well done East Cork AC. Danny

Our first two runners home Helen and James even before they started.
