Musgrave S&S 5Km BHAA Race

The next race on our calendar is the Musgrave S&S 5k on Wednesday August 15 at 8pm on the Marina. Registration takes place from 6.30pm at Shandon Boat Club. The race route is along the traditional 5k route at the Marina so this is usually a popular race. It is advisable to get to registration in good time to avoid delays.
Race entry for registered runners €5, non-registered runners €10. Remember, if you're not registered with the BHAA in advance of the race, you are not eligible for prizes and have to run as a non-registered runner.

Fantastic Performance From Sally Drennan in European Championships

Sally Drennan put in a fantastic performance today Saturday in Glasgow where she finished 13th in the European Sprint Distance Triathlon for Age Groupers which is held in conjunction with the Elite European Championships. She was very happy with her result but will keep trying to make that elusive top ten. Well done Sally we are all very proud of you.  Danny

Mitchelstown 8Km

We had one runner here on Friday evening for the second race in the series of three the Mitchelstown 8Km. Edwin Cashman had a very fine time of 29.04 which was a PB. Well done Edwin.

East Cork Harbour Half Marathon and 10Km

This took place in the rain and the fog on Saturday and we had two runners in the Half Marathon  Declan Dorgan who had a great time of 1.47 doing it as part of a twenty mile training run in preparation for the Dingle Marathon and the ever steady Maurice Ring who also had a fine run along with our gallant pacers Maire Walsh and Louise Barry who do amazing work giving up their own race to help others.

We had a mighty crowd doing the 10 Km where our first man home was Paul Spiteri who has not being racing much of late but had a great run showing he has not lost any of his talent when finishing 8th overall (7th M) and James Long finishing 11th overall (10th M). Our first lady home was Siobhan O'Leary who also had a fine run finishing 6th Lady overall and Sheila Buckley finished 7th Lady overall.

An interesting point of note is that the 3rd runner home was Catherina McKiernan who also got 1st Lady. So like Lizzie Lee's recent race in Dublin she will appear on the podium as well.
'
Martha McNamara was 1st O/50 Lady her second 1st in a week but there are no results listed for other categories so it appears there were no prizes for them either ?.Danny

Best of luck to everyone competing this weekend. We will have runners in Mitchelstown, East Cork Half Marathon and 10Km and of course Sally Drennan representing Ireland in Glasgow. Hopefully everyone will get the results they desire. Danny
