Sally and Alanna Drennan after completing the Loughrea Triathlon on Sunday where Sally came FIRST in her category. Great stuff Sally and looking good for her international cap next weekend. (see previous post). Danny
Killarney Park Run
Margaret Jones did the 5Km Park Run in Killarney on Saturday and considering she is not doing a lot at the moment she did the excellent time of 21.39 and finished 3rd Lady overall and 17th out of over one hundred runners. Then she went off climbing mountains. No stopping her. Well done as always Margaret.
Gillian Bransfield ran in the Kinsale 5 Mile on a very hot and muggy evening. She got a PB and as the man said " any day you get a PB is a good day". Well done Gillian.
A fine crowd ran in the sixth running of the Conna 5Km on Friday evening. This is a tough and hilly course both up and down but all seemed to have fine runs but it certainly is not a course for PBs. Our first man home was Edwin Cashman and our first lady was Siobhan Murphy. We had one prize winner Joan McCarthy who got 2nd O/60.
It was great to see such support lining the streets from the local community making this a top class event.
Wishing all our runners the very best over the weekend both in Conna and Kinsale and elsewhere. Please keep us posted on your runs. Danny
Midleton AC Athlete Selected For Irish Team
The great news for our club is that Sally Drennan has been selected to represent Ireland in the European Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships For Age Groupers which is being held in conjunction with the elite European Championships. Her selection which was based on the results of last years National Series where she came 2nd in the O/50 category.
She is heading off next week to Glasgow where the event takes place on the 11th August (which is also her birthday). The whole club wishes her every success and a happy birthday.
