WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Novice Cross Country

The County Novice Championships took place today just outside Macroom. On a new course only selected on Saturday and a fantastic morning for running. We had two ladies running and unfortunately we did not have a team. Siobhan O’Leary had a brilliant run and finished 5th overall and Eileen Leahy showed she is coming back into fine form.

We had a fine crew of men out there Edmond O’Sullivan, Neilus Aherne, David Moynihan, Ger O’Regan, Paul Geary and Declan Dorgan. They were led home by David Moynihan who is also getting back into form whilst all the others also had great runs and packed very well. Special mention for Paul Geary who was doing his first cross country and took to it like a duck to water. Well done all once again ye did the club proud.

Killarney Adventure Challenge

Huge congrats to Breda Sheedy on her success in the Killarney adventure challenge. Total distance was 75 Km and she came 1st Lady in her category.

Ironman

The very best of luck to club member Miah McGrath who is doing the Ironman in Barcelona this weekend.

Best of luck to all running here on Sunday

GREENWAY   From Maire Walsh PRO

Hi Everyone, As you know, it was recently announced that the County Council is looking to create a Midleton to Youghal Greenway along the disused railway line. This would be something really positive and beneficial to both the towns of Youghal and Midleton as well as the smaller villages en route.
Trails and greenways are a fantastic way to see some of our beautiful countryside and allow people the opportunity to cycle, walk and run in a safe environment. We all know what a positive impact exercise has on our mental and physical health but there's also the social aspect of getting out with friends and family.
Cllr Susan McCarthy is inviting submissions on the Midleton to Youghal Greenway. Submission will be accepted until October 30th and can be done either in writing to Part 8 Midleton to Youghal Greenway Submissions, Cork County Council, East Cork Municipal District, Youghal OR online at
https://www.corkcoco.ie/planning/municipal-districts-part-8-planning

Thanks a mill!!
