Message From Midleton 5 Race

Director Marc Dalton

Hi All,

As the dust settles down on the 37th Midleton AC 5 Mile Road Race, it is very clear what a huge success it has been for the club.

Michael Harty from East Cork crossed the line in a record breaking time of 24:21, the East Cork man is in top form and didn’t disappoint with a fantastic time.

Breda Gaffney from Mallow AC won the ladies race in an impressive time of 30:18.

The race started without any hiccups, thanks to all the stewards for their great work in chaperoning people safely to the start line

We have all missed the opportunity to get out a run freely and socialise for a long time and this night proved to tick all the boxes.

Without the huge effort and support of the club members this race would not continue to flourish.

A few people come to mind to thank individually, Deidre Ahern and Claire Fitzgerald for all their efforts in the catering department, the ladies and their crew delivered once again in challenging circumstances.

Mick Murphy for all his efforts with the stewarding on the course on the night.

Colette Dalton and Mike Dorney for making the registration look like an easy job on the night and arranging all the prizes after.

The pacers on the night deserve appreciation for all their efforts in getting people to achieve target times.

I know I can’t mention everyone individually, but I want to say a massive thanks to everyone who contributed to this race being a huge success.

We cannot thank our sponsors enough for their contributions to the cause and the offerings of food and drinks for the night.

Well done to Christine Murphy from Mercer on sponsoring the cash prizes for the top 10 winners and record breaking course record.

Market Green have been very generous in providing us with a great venue once again and credit to Gavin for all his efforts on the night.

JJ Coppingers have come in as the Main Sponsor and will welcome us all to their bar over the next few weeks.

The atmosphere on the course from the supporters and the runners was brilliant and the weather gods were with us again this year.

It was great to see all the people gather after the race share their experiences and to see so many familiar faces returning again.

We will look forward to arranging a night out in JJ Coppingers over the next few weeks to celebrate the success.

Thanks Everyone,

Marc
