East Cork Track 5000m Championships

Individual Gold, Silver and Bronze for our Ladies

GOLD for Mixed Team 

Today I asked for a lady to make up the team for the mixed relay and two wonderful ladies stepped forward to make up the team. Thank you Melanie and Vicki who joined Sinead along with Chris and Ger to make up the team and what a result they achieved. Our mixed team won GOLD.

Our individual ladies had brilliant results Vicki Spiteri won GOLD, Sinead Falvey SILVER and Melanie Etienne won BRONZE and all got 5000m track PBs as well. 

Our men  Ger O'Regan and Christopher McCarthy also had great runs and made up the mixed team who also won GOLD. A wonderful evening for running and great results for our club.

A special well done to Melanie and Chris on their first time running on the track.

 Sincere congratulations and thanks to each of you. Once again ye did the club proud.

Amazon BHAA 5Km

We has a fair few runners here and once again came away with prizes. This was the first Amazon 5Km and the last of the BHAA races in the evening for this year. Its back to Sunday mornings from now on.Our prize winners were Edmond O'Sullivan 2nd O/60 and Donie O'Connell 3rd O/70. Over three hundred ran despite the crazy traffic hold ups getting there Which caused many to miss the race.

WEEKEND NEWS

Club member Kevin Toth took part in this yesterday. Tough Trail Runs and then cycle up the Knockmealdown Mountains. He knocked 24minutes of his last years time. Super going Kevin.

Boston Scientific Half Marathon Clonmel

We had two runners here in Clonmel on Sunday morning. Linda Curtin 2.05.09 and Amanda Cooney 2.22.45 . Well done ladies.

Club Night Out In Rosie's

A wonderful evening out was organised by Dee Duran our Social Events Coordinator  in Rosie's in Lower Aghada on Saturday night. A great crowd attended and fun and food was had by all. Well done and thanks Dee the first of many hopefully.

Rathcormac 4 Mile

This took place on Thursday evening and attracted almost two hundred runners. We had two runners there Katie Hennessy FJ 26.02 and Margaret Twohig Anglin 37.03. The conditions were very bad and everyone was drenched to the skin but as always the spread after was superb. Well done Bridevale AC.

 Stryker 4 Mile Carrigtwohill

Wednesday evening saw a large crowd of over five hundred runners take to the roads of Carrigtwohill for the annual Stryker 4 Mile road race. 

There was a new start and  first mile for the race  which most seemed to be very happy with. We had a large crowd from the club there and we got some prizes also. Joan McCarthy 2nd Lady O/65 and Ger O'Regan 2nd O/55 and Edmond O'Sullivan 1st O/60. 

Whilst Dee Duran was our first lady home and 5th overall lady as well as getting herself a new PB. She was closely followed  by Sinead Falvey. Darren Ahern was our first man home. Well done all.

 A special mention must go to Maggie and Mary Lynch who just graduated from our recent C2 5k in great style and ran their first race with the club here tonight. Well done ladies ye did yourselves proud.

The East Cork Division 5000m track championship is scheduled to take place at MTU track on Wednesday 28^th August at 8:15pm.

Entry Fee €5.00 payable on the night.
