WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Our Man In Paris

Unfortunately despite winning medals in the East Cork Championships Dan did not qualify for Paris but he went anyway.

Don't Forget to organise a team for this.

 The East Cork Olympics.

National Championships

Report From Rod

4th place and PB 2:19. Ran the first 400m in 68sec as planned and tried my best to keep the pace for the final lap of the 800m.

The 3rd place guy Morgan McDonagh finished half a second ahead of me I just couldn't catch him for the bronze medal in the final straight. Disappointed but happy at the same time with only 2 months training for.it. Three 4th places this summer now. Will get the medal next year for sure. Thanks to John Hennessey and Donie for all the training plans and advice. Very much appreciated and thanks for all the good luck messages.

Well done Rod on a fantastic achievement I too have no doubt that the medals will come soon. So great for the club to be represented at these championships. Thank you Danny

Rod with some of his Fan Club before leaving home at 8am this morning

Kinsale 5 Mile

The Kinsale 5 Mile took place on Friday evening and attracted six hundred runners. We had four runners there Ger O'Regan, Maire Walsh, Louise Barry and the amazing Amanda Cooney doing her third race in as many nights.

All had fine runs but unfortunately no PBs but a great night was had by all.

Best of luck

Best of luck to all athletes running this weekend.

We have Rod Scanlan running in the National Track and Field Masters M40 800M in Tullamore on 4th Aug at 12.10pm. Its great for the club to see one of our athletes competing here.

Also we have several athletes going in the Kinsale 5Mile tonight All hoping for PBs on the fastest course in Munster if not Ireland,

Ballynoe 5Km

The annual  Ballynoe 5Km organised by St Catherines AC took place on the 1st August and as expected we saw some great racing with only one second separating first and second and only one point separating first and second team. We had a great amount of athletes there and all ran very well. Our first man home was Christopher McCarthy who had a very fine run and our first lady was Dee Duran both clocking good times over a tough course. Brigit Ryan won 1st O/50 Lady and Katie Hennessy was 1st Jnr. Maurice Corcoran being paced by his brother home from Barcelona got himself a PB whilst Richardt Rabe made a very successful debut in the club colours.

Well done to St Catherine's AC on another great night,

ThermoFisher Scientific 4Mile

This new race on the BHAA Calendar took place over the usual Ringaskiddy 4 mile circuit on Wednesday evening We had two runners there Siobhan Williams and Amanda Cooney both ran very well. There were just over three hundred ran.
