WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Cork City Marathon Half Marathon and 10Km

We saw some great running from our club members today. Darren Ahern was our first runner home in the marathon clocking a sub three with 2.59.01 and our first lady with an equally great run was Kathleen Ryan with 3.20.04. Nathalie O'Connell had a super debut with 3.37.10 (recovering from pneumonia two weeks ago) as had Melanie Etienne ( who was undecided whether to run or not until yesterday also due to illness)

Tony Murray had his usual very solid run and our two male debutants Killian O'Brien and Tom McCarthy both had excellent runs. Ciaran McNally also had a fine run as had Michael Murphy. Excellent runs were also had in the Half Marathon and the 10Km.

Well done to all who ran.

Anyone with individual reports or photos please send them to me they would be much appreciated.

Best of luck to everyone running tomorrow in the 10Km, Half Marathon and Full Marathon in Cork in the morning. We have runners in each event and several newbies in the full. A Special Good Luck to those doing the full for the first time.

Please send me a photo or two of yourself if possible in case I miss you. One or two will do as that is all I will be able to use as we have so many running

Stockholm Marathon

Our first runner out racing this weekend was Dee Duran who went to Sweden to compete in the Stockholm Marathon. Dee broke the 3.30 once again finishing very strong i 2.27.48. Dee says "the smile is hiding the pain". Well done Dee on another fine run.

Interestingly it was the first time I was charged 3euro for tracking someone. I suppose it was bound to happen.

WEEKEND RUNAROUND

MUNSTER GOLD for Rod and Dinny

Rod says Munster M40 800 gold 🏅 in 2:16. Led from the gun, tough weather conditions . Had hoped for better time closer to 2:10  but thrilled with 1st place.

Speaking with Rod yesterday he was in peak condition and had every intention of taking the GOLD which he did. Congrats Rod on getting the Gold once again.

Huge congratulations also to Dinny McLean who also took GOLD in the Senior 800m event and to Emma Bell who came 4th in the U20 800m event

Super finish by Dinny McLean showing how it should be done

For those of you who might like to try the track here is a great introductory event. It's well worth trying in a nice and friendly atmosphere of Carrignavar. Many of you didn't think you would like the Trail Running until you tried it .Please mark the date below in your diary. It really is a great night suitable for all.

ARDMORE 5 Mile

This is one of the great traditional races in the West Waterford Series. A series well worth doing. We had a good number of runners there on a beautiful Friday evening for running. Over two hundred runners ran the race.
