John Buckley Sports 5Km

Great runs by Mark and Kathleen

We saw some great racing at this event tonight. On an ideal evening for running with a tremendous battle up front the winner was not decided until the last few meters..
We had a good number running and all acquitted themselves very well with several getting PBs..
Our first runner home was Mark Cronin with a tremendous run breaking the 18min barrier for the first time. Mark had been threatening to do this for a while and it was great to see him powering down the finishing straight and achieving his goal.
Kathleen Ryan also had a fantastic run. Coming off marathon training and just about to start her tapering she also got a PB by 13secs coming home in 19.22 and also getting 3rd O/35.
There was a massive crowd there as expected ( 1206 finished) and it was 8.25PM by the time the race got started.

A certain Sonia O'Sullivan asking Kathleen how she did it.
