A Historic Night At The Midleton 5
History was made tonight at the Joe Hourigan Midleton 5 when Niamh Allen was the first runner home in a new course record .The first time ever that a woman was first runner home in the forty year history of the race. She was followed home by
Mark Walsh Leevale AC.
Huge kudos to Maire Walsh Race Director ( this seems such a poor description of a job with so much attached to it) on organising such a great event and well done and thanks to all who helped make it such a great night. There are far too many individuals who did trojan work organising individual sections of the event to mention by name but thanks you all. A big thank you to all the clubs who came out and supported us despite there being a race so close to us the night before.
We had several prize winners from our club. Kathleen Ryan came 2nd O/35 and that's after coming 1st O/35 the previous night at Stryker her employers race. She also got the 1st Midleton AC Lady home prize. Brigid Ryan 2nd O/50 and seeing her surprize was a delight. Joan McCarthy 1st O/65.
Darren Ahern was 1st Midleton AC man home John Cashman took 1st O/60
Mary O'Mahony Youghal AC was our 10,000th finisher and won the night in Garryvoe Hotel
