MARATHON MONDAY

First off a piece of information for all Club members running the marathon.Brian Healy (club member) is part of the organising committee od the marathon and as per usual he has allowed us advertise his number in case any of of members run into any bother .Brian's number is 0872932752 and as always do not hesitate to contact him if in trouble with the marathon. Thanks Brian.
There is a good video of the course on the running in Cork blog.

Don't forget also that this is the National Marathon Championships and be sure to enter at the AAI desk that will be upstairs at the Expo. where you collect your number also the BHAA usually have a desk . You can enter these for free and its always worth doing. I well remember being surprised with a BHAA cat. prize several months later .We have had several members take medals in these events in the recent past  one of those being the great Margaret Barry who got many medals there over the yearsand will hopefully be back there again soon .

For those who have not run it before or want to familiarize themselves again we usually take a walk/run down to the start and finish areas on the Sunday evening around 6.30/ 7 ish.(We can sort this on the day) . This is also good for those supporting as they can then arrange exactly where to meet people. There is no point in saying I will see you around the finish as there will be hundreds/thousands there its best pick a specific spot to meet at.

Everyone in well into their tapering (hopefully) at this stage and rumour has it that even Magic Jones has taken a day off and got a massage and her hair done to boot.

Now the very best of luck to everyone running and we hope everyone gets the times they have trained for and always remember "RESPECT THE DISTANCE" and stick to your selected pace no matter how good you feel in the early stages. Wear your club colours with pride and you will find when you most need it someone shouting "Come On Midleton .AC You are Doing Great" . There will be a large group of supporters travelling up from the club both for the weekend and on the day so safe travelling to everyone,
I have not named any of the individuals running in case I leave people out and cause offence but if people want to e mail me names and numbers so people can check their progress online I will be happy to put them up.

On a sad note Don O'Callaghan informed me today that the man he saw getting a heart attack at mile 25 last Sun in Amsterdam died today. A Frenchman of only 45 RIP.Puts things in perspective.
