Silver For Daniel Colbert
Well done as always to Daniel Colbert who when running with U.L. on Sat in Waterford in the IUAA T&F got two silver medals in the first leg of the 4x 100 relay and the 4 x 400 relay
East Cork Track and Field Day 1
Our Ladies had great success here today at day 1 of the East Cork Track & Field held in Youghal with Catherine Carroll taking Silver and Colette Dalton taking Bronze in the Ladies 100m and Catherine then taking Gold in the Ladies 800 mtr. Well done ladies.
Rotterdam Calling
Reports in so far from Rotterdam have both good and bad news. I am happy to say mostly good and sad to report that our man Fergal O'Meara had to drop out before the 15 mile mark as he was having trouble with his glutes. This was the sensible thing to do as he doesn't need just to finish anymore and it saves further damage and keeps him in shape for the shorter races coming up wgich he has been excelling at recently.
On the more positive side Eugene McCarthy had a fantastic run to finish fresh in 3.13 After a slow first seven due to the crowded start he let things rip and wound up with negative splits doing the first half in 100 approx. and the second half in 93 feeling comfortable and not struggling at any stage. John Carey came home cruising in 3.25 and Mick Murphy a powerful run in 3.30. Kevin Morrison had a great run doing 3.55 and Peter Gunning managed to keep under the magic four hour mark doing 3.59. The guys say the weather was good and not at all as warm as last year. Now for the beer and the report stops here and "what happens on tour stays on tour" as the saying goes. Well done everyone.
Having some well deserved "recovery drink"
Cobh 10 Mile
It was great to see so many Midleton AC singlet's today in Cobh and most people seemed to be having fine runs. Neilus Aherne had a superb run and was our first man home closely follow by Morgan O'Regan having a great run also. Breda Sheedy was our first lady having a fine run followed by Louise Barry having a great run assisted by the great Margaret Jones who was out for a trot on her home turf before her big one in Boston next weekend. Our pacers Mike Dolphin and John Dunphy seemed to do a great job and were bang on time.
Neilus Aherne took 1st O/55 again after pacing Sonic O'Sullivan for the last mile. Nice to see Midleton AC and Ballymore Cobh AC working together. Well done Neilus I hope you offered Sonia a rub of your magic massage and being a gentleman of course you let her win.
We had far too many others there to give all the names but well done to all. One disappointment I found was that at the 5 1/2 mile mark where we were supporting three stewards stood with their hands in their pockets for all of the race giving no directions to the runners to turn right whilst the supporters had to give the runners directions costing several runners vital seconds. A big thanks you to James Moore Midleton AC for the photo's.

Rotterdam Bound
Good luck to all the crew doing Rotterdam this weekend and here's hoping ye all have great ones. Rotterdam is regarded as the second fastest course in Europe so no pressure. Our crew are Kevin Morrison, Fergal O'Meara, John Carey, Mick Murphy, Peter Gunning and Eugene McCarthy. Some of the crew have lots of experience of Rotterdam having been there before.

Ballintotis Get Together By The Lake
This was followed by tea and cakes in the Community Hall and all I can say about this is that if the Ballintotis ladies learn run as good as they can bake then Cork athletics is in for a big surprize. It was truly a fantastic evening and wonderful to see two clubs working together for the good of all. Thanks Ballintotis we will be back for more next week..
