WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Kinsale 5 mile

Brilliant running again tonight Friday in the Kinsale 5 by Emmet Ronan who after a hard weeks training came home in a great time of  29.20 not a PB but still brilliant running especially considering that it is a course one needs to know to take the full advantage of and this was Emmet's first time doing it.
Another Midleton AC runner to have a great run was Christopher McCarthy who smashed his PB and got a time of  32:58. Well done Christopher. Two other Midleton AC members who had fine runs were Simon Fitzgerald 35.44 and Brendan Barry who got a PB with 38.54.

National League Finals

Best of luck to Daniel Colbert who is competing as a guest with Youghal AC in these finals in Tullamore on Sunday. Daniel will be doing the 200, 400h and the triple jump (his first time doing it) .

40 Days on Foot came about after a close friend of mine who has dealt with mental health issues for a long time came very close to taking her own life last year.

Thankfully she made it through a very tough time in her life but she spoke very highly of the help she received from Pieta House when she was in her darkest moments.

This inspired me to organise a fund raiser for Pieta House as my own way of showing my appreciation of the amazing service they offer.

I've always been quite a fit person but started endurance running about a 12 months ago and since then it has completely taken over my life!
I decided the best way to raise money for Pieta House was to run  multiple marathons around the country so I could also spread the word of pieta House and raise awareness of the mental health issues that the everyday person can struggle with.

Myself and Sean have been organising the run for the past 6 months to the best of our ability but as we are just 2 people Organising a large scale event between full time work and training we unfortunately lack a few resources which has lead to us wanting to try to rely on the help of Athletics Clubs and the Irish public in supporting us on our journey around the country.

Hopefully the country will really get behind us and support the run and in doing so support Pieta House.

Kind Regards,
Callum Jacobs

Conna 5km

Its a long weekend so it started on Thur. evening with the Conna 5km.There were over two hundred and twenty runners at this race which was very well organised and well deserving on the support that it got. There is a hill here from mile one to just after mile two and guys its one of the toughest hills I ever ran and I have run some hills. It just goes on and on around every bend getting steeper. All our runners had fine runs here with Paul Geary who got a PB in Novartis the previous night having a fine run as did Danny McCarthy who also ran Novartis.
Sheila Buckley did the same time as she did last year 20.41 and took 4th Lady overall with another fine run. Joan McCarthy who also did Novartis battled all the way over the last mile to hold her position and take 1st O/55 Lady whilst Emer O'Doherty running here for the first time also had a great run.

 Sheila Buckley 4th Lady overall

Joan McCarthy 1st Lady O/55

Emer O'Doherty and Friends

Kinsale 5
Don't forget anyone doing the Kinsale 5 tomorrow evening that the race starts @ 7.30
