Fantastic Run By Daniel Colbert
Running in his first National Senior 400 h Final today Daniel Colbert exceeded all expectations and finished a brilliant 4th place he was well placed to take the bronze until a slight mishap at the second last hurdle. This is a great result for a very young man of only twenty and rest assured that the Midleton AC vest will be on the National Senior Podium next year. Remember that Daniel already won the National U23 title two weeks ago.
For those of you that missed it the race can be found on RTE Player on RTE2 at 6pm and Daniel's was the first race.
It was truly wonderful to see the Midleton AC's colours on national television and worn with
such class. May it be the first of many occasions.

Daniel Makes National Finals
The wonderful news has just come through that Midleton ACs Daniel Colbert will be running in the National Finals in the 400m H. tomorrow. This is a great achievement especially considering that he only just buried his close friend and uncle (see previous post). The final will be shown on on RTE tomorrow evening. Win, lose or draw Daniel we are extremely proud of you and wish you the very best. Racing in the final at such a young age and in such esteemed company (several internationals also running) will be a great experience for Daniel and for the club as it is many many years since we had someone in a National Senior Final..

"Take The Challenge "
Many Midleton AC members went there on Friday evening took the challenge and won. Our ladies were 4th,5th and 6th namely Helen Gilroy, Sheila Buckley and Margaret Jones and they also took FIRST TEAM in the Ladies.
This is superb going and they each knocked about four minutes off last years times. Not only did these ladies do well but Deidre Aherne came home 2nd O/35 with some great running especially considering it was her first time doing the race and to top things off Margaret Twohig came 2nd O/45 which was particularly nice considering she went mainly to advertise her upcoming Cloyne 5km. Ciara Baldwin doing it for the first time also had a great run.
Sean O'Sullivan was our only male prize winner coming 2nd O/40 with a great run in this very competitive section. Veterans of the race Donie O'Connell and Danny McCarthy also had good runs.
This is one of the toughest runs around but is organised so very well with time callers at every mile and great prizes and a great spread after. Entry fee was only 10 Euro which included a dry fit T shirt. Some value for money. Full results are available on the Precision Timing website which means it was chip timing plus a Dry Fit T-shirt all for 10 Euro.
Best of luck to everyone running this weekend. The big one Friday is "Take The Challenge" the Donaghmore 7 which is one of the really tough ones around. I know we have several members going.
The other big one is the National Championships where we have Daniel Colbert competing. Daniel will be running under difficult circumstances as can be seen from previous post and we also wish him the very best of luck.
This won't apply to our members but some of it might be of interest.
