Little Island 6 Km and East Cork Senior Cross Country Championships
Edmond getting advice from the great John Griffin before the race.
Whilst in the men's event all our runners had some great runs with Barry Williams and Paul Kearns showing that without a doubt that they will be individual winners next year,
Great runs were had by Edmond O'Sullivan and John Cashman again showing that they seemed to have found their forte in cross country running and the absolutely amazing Neilus Aherne ( who also ran Dublin Marathon only three weeks ago) proved once again what a superb athlete he is by outrunning a Youghal AC athlete in the last 100m to gain an extra point for our club.
Our first man home was the equally amazing Andre Brodkorb who again had a heavy session yesterday morning but he had to rise to the challenge especially as his two boys had already won gold and silver so no way could Dad let the team down,
Midleton AC won the Silver Medal position and for that we are truly proud but also disappointed in that we did not get the gold but as there were three races in the one ( U/17, U/19 and senior) we thought that we had it won (as did others) only to discover that two lads we thought were u/19 were in fact Senior ( perfectly legal and above board) but it did make ones scoring difficult. Still either way getting the SILVER was a fantastic result. Well done all and a big thanks to each and every one of ye for representing our club so well.
The Brodkorb Family Gold and two Silvers What a result ?
