East Ferry 5Mile
East Ferry 5Mile took place on Friday evening and once again excelled itself in being one of the best organised races around. Its great to see a whole community working together for the good of the local rowing club. On a beautiful evening with the rain holding off there was ideal conditions for running. We had a fine crowd from our club taking part and had several prize winners. Eileen Leahy 3rd overall Lady, Mary O'Keeffe 1st O/45 and Margaret Twohig 2nd O/45. Joan Hough took 1st O/55. Fergal O'Meara 2nd O/45, John Cashman 1st O/50, Neilus Aherne 1st O/55 and Donie O'Connell 1st O/65 are amongst our winners. Whilst several got PBs including Michael McNamara and Aoife Fouhy.
We also had a great crew of supporters out there and a big thanks to them. One of the highlights of the night was seeing young Christine Gilroy winning 1st Juvenile with her mam Helen supporting. Christine says "if my mam isn't running someone has to win the prizes for the Gilroy's".
