Dunmanway 10Km
This race took place on Sunday morning which was quite a warm day for racing over an up and down course which could be considered tough and not conducive to fast times. Midleton ACs Gillian Bransfield ran there and took two min's off her PB and finished 4th senior lady and 16th lady overall. With great results like that no wonder she says " I really enjoyed it and think it deserves to be considered one of Cork's best 10Km's". Well done Gillian.
The "Monday Mile"
Don't forget the "Monday Mile" starts next Monday evening as part of Donie's training sessions (see previous post). There is no obligation to take part and it is open to all levels. The Monday sessions are open to all members no matter how fast or slow you are and everyone seems to be benefiting from them so if you have not been there yet why not come along and try it out "improvement is guaranteed".
Coolagown 5km
This race took place on Thursday evening and had a record attendance of two hundred and fifty three runners again demonstrating the rise in popularity in running. There was some fine running here with Brian Harty coming 7th overall in a time of 17.26 and Andre Brodkorb coming 3rd O/45 in 18.14 a new PB. The constantly improving Barry Williams who just loves the hills came home in 20.40.
Our ladies had Eileen Leahy having a great run coming home 5th Lady in 20.40 and Siobhan Murphy had another great run with 24.24 and a lady who is one of the most improved ladies in the club Emer Hayes had a great run also .Our only prize winner was Margaret Twohig who took 2nd O/45 and Joan McCarthy was 3rd O/55.
All in all it was a superb evening with a light shower just before the start and then the rain holding off until the whole event was over. The village of Coolagown was beautiful as always again showing why it has won so many Tidy Towns competitions. Results were excellent as always provided by Ballycotton Running Promotions.
No that is not Margaret's prize that is her niece.
