CROSS COUNTRY

Message from Sally Drennan (X Country Coordinator)

The first cross country race of the season takes place this Sunday, 20 September in Conna.  This is the East Cork novice and masters cross country.  Anyone over the age of 35 is eligible to run as a master.  Anyone who has not come first, second or third in a cross country race at East Cork level or higher is eligible to run as a novice.

For anyone wanting to try cross country for the first time, this is an ideal opportunity - a low key event over an easier course than races which take place later in the season.

Pre-entry is not necessary, but it makes things easier on the day if I could have a list of those planning to run.  So I would be grateful if you could confirm if you hope to run on Sunday.

The first races will be the juveniles starting at 11.30 am.  No definite start time has been given for the adult races as it is hard to estimate, but I would recommend being there by about 11.30 in order to have time to walk the course and warm up and be ready to race by 12.15 pm.

4 October - Cork County Novice and Under 23 Cross country championships  - Carrignavar
Closing date for entries for the above is Friday, 25 September.  Please let me know before that date if you would like to be entered.  We really hope to be in a position to have a men's and a women's novice team for the above.
