East Cork Cross Country Championships

Ladies win 3rd Novice team and 1St O/45 team.
Men win 1st O/45 Team
A great days cross country racing took place on Sunday at Murley’s Cross over a superb course and well organised by St Catherine’s AC. We had a fine representation there and all acquitted themselves very well. It was great to see Rod Scanlon back in action and running well whilst Edmond O’Sullivan showed once again the cross country is his forte with a very fine run. It was great also to see Ger O’Regan making his debut and running well. There were far too many other fine individual performances to mention. Our men also took 1st O/45 team prize with Neilus Aherne, Edmond O'Sullivan, John Cashman and Ger O'Regan.

Our ladies also had fine runs with Eileen Leahy coming 3rd Novice and Sally Drennan taking 1st O/45 and Joan Hough taking 2nd O/45. Our ladies also took 3rd Novice Team (Eileen Leahy, Margaret Twohig and Emer Hayes) and also took 1st O/45 team ( Sally Drennan, Joan Hough and Margaret Twohig). Emer Hayes also had a fine run and without her we would not have got the 3rd Novice team prize.

The venue for next Sunday's East Cork Cross Country Championships has been changed. It will now be held at Murlry's Cross which is the crossroads just beyond Leahy's Farm. Please pass the word to anyone you know might be interested and remember you can enter on the day .Just turn up with your Midleton AC top its well worth trying it out and you wont get an easier or more friendly event than this. It really is a great team event where every runner counts from the fastest to the slowest.
