BHAA FMC 6k
About 400 people took part in this morning's 6k race in Little Island, the first BHAA road race of the year. Conditions were difficult enough, with wind and rain, and a ten minute delay in starting meant everyone was cold and wet starting. We had a great turnout from the club - our men included Eugene McCarthy, Mike Cremin, Ger McLean, Fergal O'Meara, David Moynihan, Christopher McCarthy, Fionan O'hAodain, John Cashman, Sean O'Sullivan, Marc Dalton, Paul Geary, Derek Ahern, David O'Sullivan, Edwin Cashman, Paul Kierans, Ger O'Regan, Arthur Murphy, Kevin Morrison and Ian Kohler, while our ladies were represented by Anna Doris, Sinead Kevany, Louise Barry, Marie Gillman, Maire Walsh, Sheila Bullman, Claire Parker and Joan McCarthy. It was great to see Sinead Kevany back doing her first race in years and she had a fine run too. Fionan continues to knock minutes off his PB with a fine time of 24:18, while Christopher also had a great run posting a PB of 23:50. Louise had a very strong run culminating in a fast finishing mile. Apologies if I have missed anyone - please email mdtacinfo@gmail.com with your race report.
Our prize-winners were:
Eugene McCarthy 3rd o/45
Ian Kohler 1st o/70
Sinead Kevany 2nd o/35
Anna Doris 1st o/45
Marie Gillman 1st o/50
Anna and Louise won the ladies' A team, Marie was part of the 2nd ladies' A team, while Eugene, Ger, and Fergal were the 3rd mens' A team.

FMC Littleisland 6Km
The second race of 2016 on the Cork BHAA calendar is the FMC 6k race in Little Island on Sunday 17th at 11am. This has long been a 4 mile route in the past but in recent years we’ve changed the route to take in the business park.
Race registration takes place at the Little Island Sports Hall from 9.30am. It’s always worth coming to this one early as it’s usually a popular race. Don’t forget to get your annual BHAA registrations in as early as possible. Race entry still only costs €5 for registered runners and €8 for non-registered runners
This was traditionally the first race of the year for most people except the die hard's who did Bandon and has always been very popular. It is important to remember that you must be registered in advance to be eligible for prizes. Also note that if the morning is frosty it might become a four mile race over a slightly different course.
