NEILUS AHERNE WINS ALL-IRELAND GOLD AT NATIONAL MASTERS CROSS COUNTRY IN DUNDALK
Fantastic news just in - just days into his new age category, Neilus Aherne has won an All-Ireland GOLD medal in the o/60 category today at the National Masters Cross Country in Dundalk - a truly well deserved victory for this fantastic athlete! Well done Neilus - you have done your club proud. Although the Cork team did not medal, Neilus was nonetheless, the 1st scorer on the Men's o/50 team.
Sally Drennan also had a great run and was very strong, placing 3rd on the Cork o/50 team - it's great to see her back to her true form and displaying the fine cross-country runner that she is. Well done Sally.
RESULTS OF CLOYNE 4KM CHALLENGE
The 3rd race in Cloyne 4k series took place at 9:30am on this drizzly but unseasonably mild morning. A total of 254 runners took part, of which 41 were Midleton AC athletes. Brian Harty was our first man home, and placed 3rd overall, while Eileen Leahy was our first lady home, and 1st lady overall. Well done to both and to everyone else who ran, many of whom it would appear, posted PBs. It's great to see Rod Scanlon back after a ten month lay off, and running strong.
Please let us know how you did and send in any photos you may have at mdtacinfo@gmail.com.
Once again, well done to the organisers - this race, while consistently attracting numbers in excess of 200 runners, continues to be very well organised, and by all accounts is a very enjoyable race. Good luck to anyone racing this weekend - don't forget to let us know how you do - email the blog at mdtacinfo@gmail.com with race reports
NATIONAL MASTERS CROSS COUNTRY
The National Intermediate and Masters Cross Country takes place in Dundalk this Sunday.
The very best of luck to Sally Drennan and Neilus Aherne who are both running on the Cork O/50 ladies' and men's teams. Unfortunately, Joan Hough who was also named on the Cork team will be unable to run due to her continued dedication and commitment to the juvenile athletes that she coaches, who are also competing on Sunday in Nenagh.
CLOYNE 4KM CHALLENGE
Race 3 in the Cloyne Commons 4km Challenge takes place this Sunday at 9:30am:
RNLI Reindeer Run in Fota Gardens on Sunday CANCELLED
For anyone who was planning to do this, please see message from the organisers:
We are sorry to inform you that the RNLI Reindeer Run and Santa Saunter due to take place this coming Sunday (24 January) at Fota House and Gardens has been cancelled. We have made this decision at the request of Fota House and Gardens as the grounds are in a terrible state following the huge volume of rain over the last 2 months and will not be able to cope with 700 plus people walking on them.
While we are extremely disappointed to have to cancel the run, we have been honoured to have the support of Fota House and Gardens since we started the Reindeer Run and know that this decision has not been taken lightly.
We will not be rescheduling this event at this stage, therefore we are offering a full refund, to request your refund please e-mail cpu@rnli.org.uk quoting ‘Fota refund request’, the participant(s) name, order number and amount paid.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of the RNLI Reindeer Run .
