Santa Came Early
The Christmas came early on Monday for Midleton AC when the awards ceremonies started with a very well kept secret when Sinead Keavney was awarded the River Lee/ Evening Echo Sports Star Of The Month (October) for her success in the County and Munster Championships. This took place at a wonderful reception in the River Lee Hotel attended also by Carmel Parnell who received the award for November Sportsstar along with some of Cork's major athletic dignitaries .
This was then followed at training where she was presented with her Silver All Ireland Medal which she won the day before by Club President Jim McMurtry .
The presentations did not stop there as the GREAT Neilus Aherne was presented with the special commemorative 50th Anniversary Medal from Midleton AC for his international representation of Ireland and Midleton AC. As members will recall this could not be done at the 50th Anniversary Dinner because Neilus had not actually ran so we arranged to do it asap after he ran. Neilus in his own wonderfully humble way thanked the club and all its members for their support and encouragement.
