Cloyne 4Km Race 2
On a very wet and miserable morning for running the second race in the five race Cloyne 4Km series took place. Whilst it was dry up to the start once runners hit the starting line it lashed down in buckets until the race finished. Our first man home was Kevin Smith showing he is well on his way back to form after his great marathon run in Frankfurt. He was closely followed by Derek Ahern coming back after his excellent Dublin marathon.
Our first lady was Eileen Leahy who finished 3rd overall. We had a great crowd out from the club including many families. We also had the wonderful Sonia O'Sullivan attending having cycled from Cobh running the race and then cycling back to Cobh.
Dan Twohig and family with the one and only Sonia.
National Novice Cross Country
Once again some great running from Barry O'Shea who finished in the top half of the field in some horrendous conditions of wind and rain in Navan Racecourse in the National Novice Championships today Saturday. Barry was our only runner and he also ran with the Cork Team. Well done Barry.
The big local run this weekend is Cloyne 4Km. This is the second race in the series and is on Sunday morning at 9.30am. There is also an excellent 5Km in Newmarket at 1pm over a very fast course and with an astonishing array of prizes with three in each Cat. up to O/80. There are also the usual Parkruns. Please let me know if you run any of these.
Don't forget our own Captains Run take place at 10am on Sunday 23rd starting at Barryscourt Castle. All funds go to charity. Danny
