WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Run KILLARNEY HALF MARATHON

Word just in and not from herself (modesty forbids) but Carmel Deane had an absolutely fantastic run in the Killarney Half Marathon yesterday coming home in a time of 95 mins finishing 6th lady overall.
This is great running especially considering the conditions yesterday

Carrigtwohill 5km
DATE FOR YOUR DIARY
The crew in Carrigtwohill are hoping to rearrange their race for Mon.29th some please book that date in your diary.
As you know this race was cancelled earlier this week due to the death of a member of the committee.
This is a great race and deserves our support more than ever now.

Run Killarney
Some great running yesterday from Don Ryan who managed to complete the full marathon in under 4 hours a little slower than he wanted but taking into account the conditions yesterday with the heat etc he did really well..( Roll on New York) .There were only 200+ completed the full marathon so it was pretty lonely out there at times making it all the harder.
As Don says himself he thought he was starting to have visions when he saw Sinead Buckley and Barry Aherne appearing with 8/9 miles to go.The lads appeared unannounced and helped him over the latter stages when the going got really tough.. As Don says " its what being a member of a club is all about ". Well done to Barry and Sinead  ye again proved what exceptional people and friends ye are.

Results Donoughmore 7
In a temp of 26 degrees they ran into the sun for the first two miles but that did not deter our hardy crew that braved this race.
Yes they are a hardy crew to attempt this race but then again they achieved the well deserved results they wanted
Sean O'Sullivan 2nd O/40
Tom Cody 2nd O/55
and our ladies Sheila Buckley and Helen Gilroy coming 5th and 6th overall and getting (as predicted) PBs by over 2 mins each which in the current conditions amounts to some outstanding running
.I don't have any other individual results to hand but well done all round.

Graded Track & Field League 7 *****************
New PB for Michelle Kenny
Great news in from Pat Walsh on Michelle Kenny's track results.Michelle had a superb run last Thur night in which she the 3,000 mtrs in a new PB on the track of 11.01. Please note the link on "Running In Cork" for the results is presently incorrect . Hopefully it will be sorted soon.

Donoughmore 7

This race has the subtitle "Take The Challenge" and is noted for its hills. Overall its not at all as bad as people say.The first two mile are slightly uphill and should be run steady the middle three are flat and fast and it is here one needs to gain time ,the last two are more or less uphill with little rest periods of flats and the finish again uphill. It is always a very well organised race with kiddies races before . So the best of luck to all our athletes who are doing this tonight especially "Wonderwoman & co." we will be expecting PBs in the heat.

RUN Killarney

Good luck to everyone doing this tomorrow there is a 10km ,half and full marathons. This should be tough in the present conditions and the heat must be allowed. Best of luck to Don Ryan doing the full . Don is nearly a veteran at this stage and should be well able for it.Best of luck also to any other members doing it Please keep us posted.

Churchtown South

Remember we are doing Churchtown at 9.30 in the morning for anyone interested. All welcome even for one lap as we know people have a lot of commitments on a Sat morning and might need to be back early.
