NOVARTIS 5Km

Tonight Wed 31st saw the 16th running of this very popular race and it was wonderful to see Laura Crowe who won her first national title last Sunday set a new Ladies course record. A large number of runners took part but it was down somewhat on recent years but that is to be expected considering the number of races on and the way the weather looked all day. We had a number of runners taking part including Sheila Buckley and Margaret Jones in the ladies and David Motherway,John Cashman and Jim Mc Murtry. We also had some prizewinners

John O'Halloran 2nd O/60 who is having a great season and likewise Mary O'Keeffe again taking 2nd O/45 and Joan Mc Carthy who had a fine run taking 2nd O/55. This was a very competitive race and the prizes were hard earned.
The food after was up to the usual Novartis standard but thankfully they seem to have eliminated the fresh cream cakes which the were famous for in favour of some fresh fruit. All   compeditors got a dry fit T Shirt.
