Membership
New members are always welcome and people are invited to join us any night. We meet at the Cricket Field (near the Hospital )Midleton on Monday evenings from 6.15 on so please feel free to come along any evening. Beginners
We will be starting our beginner sessions in September. These sessions are designed for people who have not run before or run very little and are specifically designed to help you develop as a runner. Ballycotton 5 Mile
Another Great Night For Midleton AC
It certainly was a
night to remember. The atmosphere in the hall after was electric. It was the
biggest crowd ever there with five hundred and seventy three runners. What
started with a disappointing night for the club with our two leading members out
injured. Karen Grant who was coming first in the overall series and Paul
Spiteri who was our leading man also out injured. Hopefully guys ye will both be recovered soon
and back running.
Meanwhile Helen
Gilroy helped make up for any disappointment we felt by coming a fantastic
second in the overall series with another great run especially considering she
is just back from injury. Also young Eileen Leahy continued to show her class
by coming first Jnr. Overall and taking 1st again in tonight’s race.
Other prize winners
tonight were Margaret Jones 5th, Helen Gilroy 2nd O/45 ,
Marie Gillman 1st O/50 and Margaret Barry 1st O/60.
Captain Noel O'Regan led the men's crew home in a time of 30.12 closely followed by young Ethan Hayes with four seconds and over twenty years between them. Great running lads.

Lots of our members
qualified for the very special T shirts awarded to the Top 30 ladies and the
top 50 men in the overall series. These included Helen Gilroy, Margaret Jones ,
Vicky Cleary 8th overall with a brilliant run tonight knocking over
a minute off her PB, Louise Barry a great 17th and Rayleen Dolphin kept up the great form she has been having all Summer Whilst Anne Marie Perry
28th was back collecting another one for her growing collection. The cheer of
the night and to the delight of everyone in the hall Colette Barry got the 30th
and final T shirt.
Our men also did very
well in the T shirts with Eugene McCarthy having another great run after being
unwell all week, Also Sean O’Sullivan. Fergal O’Meara, John Dunphy and again to
the absolute delight of the whole hall Mike Cremin got the 50th T
shirt by a margin of three seconds.I am sure the cheer from his supporters
could be heard in Midleton.
Huge credit must go
to John Walsh and Ballycotton Running Promotions for the organisation of this
fantastic series. This was the twenty eight running of the race and it
continues to improve every year. There is definitely no better value to be had
on the racing circuit than this series.
