WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Route 2Crook 5Mile Race

Whilst most will agree that this is one of the most scenic races on the calendar they will also agree that it is one of the toughest. But Midleton AC had a sole representative there again Breda Sheedy who again scored amongst the prize winners. .Breda came home 3rd Lady overall in a great time of 38.48. Well done again Breda.

Clonmel Half Marathon

In the Boston Scientific Half Marathon in Clonmel on Sunday Bernie Twomey had another fine run. She finished in 1.51 an excellent time especially considering she raced in Ringaskiddy last Wed evening where she got a PB and still managed a fine half so soon after.
A great run was also had by Esther Murphy 1.39.36 as had Niamh Dorgan 1.51.27 and Amanda Stavaru 2.02.20, Derek Aherne was our only male rep. there and he came home happy in 1.43.00

Inch 5Km

Friday 15th saw the Inch 5km take place in really ideal conditions for running. It also saw some superb runs by our members inspired not doubt by Mark English's bronze medal victory just before the start. Our first person home was Mike Cremin who had a brilliant run and got a PB which on this course is a major achievement . Some people said he was going extra fast because he was EXPECTING a phone call but whatever the reason he had a great run. He wasn't alone in having a good run as John Cashman again had a great run coming home in 19.22. Eileen Leahy was our star of the night coming 2nd lady remember Eileen is still a Jnr and this is her highest ever finish.Well done Eileen may it be the first of many.Mark O'Reilly and Donie O'Connell also had fine runs.
Lorna Santry was our 2nd Lady home and is constantly improving with every race. Gillian Bransfield came next with another fine run followed by Margaret Twohig and Lana Creedon.Lana who had to stop because she lost a gold ear ring and had to find it and pick it up lost well over a minute in the process. Paula O'Sullivan and Emer O'Doherty both had fine solid runs as had Kathleen O'Connell coming 2nd O/60.
