John Buckley 10 Mile and Cork County 10 Mile Championships

Some of our crew racing on Saturday evening. Early results show Sheila Buckley 1st O/35 and also 1st O/35 in Cork County Championships whilst Esther Murphy appears 2nd in Cork County Championships.
 Cork County 10 Mile Championships were held as part of this race but confined to members of Athletic Ireland athletic clubs and not unregistered individuals or Private running clubs. 
Our first man home was Brendan Curtin in 67.47 followed by Dave Cody in 70.56 whilst Esther Murphy was our first lady home followed by Sheila Buckley. Well done to all our crew that ran.More details to follow.

Trip Away

Due to a clash with the very popular Charleville 1/2 marathon the planned club outing to the Kilmore Quay 10k has been scrapped and replaced with the fabulous looking 
Ballycastle County Mayo

Céide fields 1/2  marathon or 10k....right along the Céide field coastline and cliffs, 100% off road. 1/2 = €37.50 and 10 = €29. WHEN?..... OCTOBER 12th....that's the weekend AFTER Cork to Cobh. Clear your diaries for that weekend folks. This is an annual club outing, a fun time for members to get away together. This trip will be subsidised by the club....subsidy depending on numbers going. The idea will be to leave Midleton at say 3pm on Friday 11th, get to Balycastle for around 8 after a meal stop half way. We will have a rough programme for the weekend and aim to get back to Midleton around 8 on Sunday 13th. Accommodation and travel details once we have committed numbers.


The starting point is a DEFINITE expression of intention to travel to Edmond on 086-8323267.

Clonmel Half Marathon

The heat seems to have been the ruling factor in Clonmel on Sunday but we have a very big crew there most using it as a training run for Dublin.

Relay For Life

A fantastic day and night was had at Relay For Life on Saturday and Sunday and a big word of thanks must go to all the organisers especially Christine, Yvonne, Louise and Claire. Well done to all who ran and helped in any way for this very worthy cause.

Churchtown (Mallow) 5 Mile

A very big well done to Morgan O'Regan who came 1st O/40 in the fine time of 31.10 in the Churchtown 5 Mile last Friday evening.

“Reminder that we need volunteers to help with the Relay for Life on 24/25 August – there will be a sign-up sheet at training on Monday evening (cricket pitch) so that we can schedule people for the 24 hours. If you can’t make training please message Christine on 087 9873617 with the times that suit you as we need to get the timetable sorted this week.

If you are not around on the day, you can still help by sponsoring a candle bag – these will be on sale again on Monday evening (€5). We will have some illustrators on hand to decorate for you if you wish or you can take away to personalise with photo etc. if you prefer. Idea is you dedicate the bag to a loved one affected by cancer.”

Rathcormac 4 Mile

A massive crowd of over three hundred runners were in Rathcormac on Thursday evening. Runners from as faraway as West Limerick and Clonmel were among them. We has three athlete there Ger O'Regan running his first race in some time and it was great to see him back in action. Barry Drennan running solid as always and the ever consistent Amanda Cooney who seems to be everywhere and was using it as a warm up for Clonmel next Sunday where we have a very big crew competing.

GARVEY’S SUPERVALU AUTUMN LEAGUE STARTS THIS THURSDAY 23RD AUGUST.

The first night of the Garvey’s Supervalu Autumn League will take place on Thursday 22nd August at St Augustine’s College by kind permission. This league is open to everybody over the age of twelve and all are welcome. This league caters for all levels of runners, from the beginner to the regular runner. You can even decide yourself what distance might suit you as it’s open for participants to run 1 lap which is just over 1 mile in distance, 2 laps, 3 laps 4 laps . If you can’t make the run every night of the five weeks, just come along when you can. The entry fee each night is €2. Registration for the league begins at 6.30 and then the league itself gets underway at 7 p.m. Parking is available at the college. Our sincere thanks go to Garvey’s Supervalu Dungarvan and to Garvey’s on the Coolagh Road once again for their kind sponsorship of this league. The dates for this league are: August 22nd,29th,September 5th,12th,19th.

Great Win For Sheila Buckley
First Lady in Liscarroll

Sheila Buckley was back to her winning way when she claimed victory in the Liscarroll 7Mile ( The Tom Fitzpatrick Memorial) in Liscarroll on Friday evening. This is a tough race and it is great to see Sheila back on the podium once again.

Club BBQ

A fantastic night was had at the club BBQ which was held in The Hunted Hog on Saturday evening. Huge thanks must go to the main organisers Louise Barry and Deidre Aherne who worked so hard to make the night the great success that it was. Thanks so much ladies and to the great crowd that made it the great night it was..
