Drimoleague 5Km
We had two runners running here on Monday evening and both did extremely well Sheila Buckley finished 4th overall lady which is great running considering she just did a marathon and Margaret Twohig got 1st O/45 adding another first to the long list of firsts for the club this weekend.
This was a tough hilly course so these are great results but its not just all about results lots of other members had great runs and just enjoyed the run which is what its all about too.
Two Munster U23 Gold Medals For Daniel
In the Munster U23 Championships in Waterford today Midleton ACs Daniel Colbert did some fine running in very bad conditions to win both the 400 mtrs and the 400 mtrs H. Well done as always .
Carrigaline Great Railway Run
A Win For Rod
Great news is coming in from Carrigaline today in what are truly awful conditions for running but Rod Scanlan had his first win here today winning the 5Km in 19.18 . Rod who has just returned from injury had a great run and most importantly is still injury free.
Helen Gilroy also had a fantastic run coming 4th overall and getting 1st O/40. in the 25 Km Race in a time of 1.52 which is great going especially considering the conditions and her recent Boston Marathon success.
Margaret Jones was very happy with her 25Km time of 1.58 and Don Ryan did fantastic time of 1.49 whilst his wife Rose did two miles before the 25Km race did the race and then ran three miles after to make up her long run in prep. for the Cork Marathon.
Another club runner who had a brilliant run was Fionan OhAodain did 2.06.30 and knocked 14 mins off his time for the same race last November.
Christopher McCarthy had a great run here also finishing 15th overall in the 10Km
With results like these it looks like Midleton AC members like the tough conditions.
Letter From The Captains
Hi all,
Sincere thanks to all Midleton AC members who helped to make last Thursday's race such a success again.
There was a huge amount of work prior to, during and after the race which was willingly volunteered by both committee members and non-members alike. Putting up signs, taking care of advertising, contact with guards, organisation of refreshments, registration, stewarding and many more tasks are all behind the scenes jobs which require plenty of willing volunteers.
Once again, you the members were fantastic in producing such a spread on the night. Check out the favourable comments on the Cork running blog for further praise!
Well done to the runners too - plenty of PB's which is a great indication for the coming summer season of running.

Ballyhoura Mountain Marathon
It took me 4 hours and 21 minutes taking 27th place with easy steady pace helping friend to achieve his first mountain marathon glory:)

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the first sub-4-minute-mile, a group of runners will run the mile over the one mile course at the Lisfihill Road, Ballinhassig.
Date: Tuesday May 6th
Time: 8pm
Non-competitive – self timing
Donation bucket to Enable Ireland will be placed at finish line
Some spot prizes will be on offer
This has always been a great event running a straight mile down a well surfaced road and well worth supporting.

Munster u23s
Best of luck to Daniel Colbert who will be running in the Munster under 23s in Waterford on Monday. Daniel hopes to run in both the 400m and 400mH.
Bandon
Saturday saw some powerful running from our crew in Bandon Maeve Horgan, Mick Murphy and Arthur McCarthy in both the 10Km and the half marathon.
Others who had fine runs in the Half Marathon were Pat Walsh 1.48.43, Vicky Cleary 1.52.41, Lana Creedon 2.08.15 and Sheila Buckley out for a jog 2.19.25. Well done all.

Drimoleague Feile Beag 5km
On Bank Holiday Monday at 6pm the third annual Drimoleague Feile Beag 5km takes place. Entries will be taken from 5pm at the local GAA grounds and the fee is €10. Prizes go to senior men and women, along with over 40, 45, 50, 60 and 70 in both male and female. Refreshments will be served after the race.
Joe Hourigan Memorial Midleton 5
New Ladies Course Record
We had a fantastic crowd of around four hundred and fifty runners take part in the Joe Hourigan Memorial 5 Mile race last Thur. evening and as always Midleton AC excelled itself. The ladies race was won by Sinead O'Connor Leevale AC in a new course record of 28.55 and the men's was again won by James McCarthy East Cork AC 24.58 in a fantastic race with Tim O'Donoghue East Cork AC 25.01.
The event was up to the very high standards that have been set for it. On a beautiful evening even the tide was in for the first time on the running of the race and showed what a lovely course it is and with the winner coming home in under twenty five mins. what a good racing course it is.
The afters were superb as always and a huge thank you must go to ALL our members and even former members who brought in such superb food. Its fair to say that it still was one of the best spreads around with the special coeliac section proving very popular. A big thank you also to Steve in TrinRun who sponsored the spot prizes and to John Buckley Sports who sponsored the numbers. Also to Ballycotton Running Promotions John Walsh, Liam O'Brien and crew without whose help very few races not alone this one would be possible.
Our members had some great runs on the night with many PBs our first man home was Mike Dolphin with another fine run and our first lady was Karen Grant who finished 3rd overall. Our two ladies just back from the Boston Marathon Sheila Buckley and Margaret Jones both were amongst the prize winners and both got PBs as well.
Thanks to everyone who stewarded and helped in any way without the work of the background club members and helpers this great race would not be possible. One to be fair has to single out Margaret Twohig who organised the spread after with such efficiency and smiles. Also the Garda were fantastic in all the help they provided.
