WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Open Information Night

We have arranged our annual Open Night for Wednesday Sept.17th at 7pm in the Community Centre. This is open to everyone including any potential new members and all existing members. The programme for the Winter season will be outlined and details of our new Beginner Sessions will be given.
These are the sessions especially designed for people with no running experience and give a gradual introduction to the sport in a relaxed and easy atmosphere. Again everyone is welcome to try it out for a session before committing to join. The sessions are co ordinated by Vincent Connolly and Danny McCarthy who between them have vast experience of introducing people to the sport. Dingle Half Marathon

Matt Chojan reports

Little report from a fantastic morning:

I woke up at 4am, travelled to Dingle to run easy paced recovery jog after last weeks mountain marathon.
It turned out to be my fastest (PB) Half Marathon on hilly course.
I have started very slowly and with each mile gaining speed feeling strong decided to go for it.
Finished 22nd in 1:28:43 and quickly got back to Cork before 2pm. It was very fast morning in deed :)
Now 2 weeks rest before 39,3 miles ultra trail Glen of Aherlow.

We also had Sheila Buckley (1.49.24)running there  doing the half and Declan Dorgan doing the full on his home turf  again as he always does and having a fine run in 3.52.46

Cross Country Dates

Here are the provisional dates for the upcoming cross country season. We encourage as many of our members as possible to try and take part especially in the East Cork's. This way you can see if you like it. The benefits to your running by doing X- country are enormous which is why so many like to do it. So why not give it a try and see how it goes for you.
Contact Helen Gilroy @ 0862713072 who is  coordinating entries or any of the coaches at training who will be only too happy to provide any further info you require.
