WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Blackwater 10 Mile

The inaugural Blackwater 10 mile road race was held in Clondulane near Fermoy on Sunday the 17th of May 2015. For a first outing, it  attracted a field of 327 runners which is an excellent turnout.

The course itself was really split up into two halves. The first 5 miles had a gradual uphill while there was plenty of downhill running in the second half. Overall people seemed to find it a rather tough course and the times reflect that. Despite the tough course all our runners acquitted themselves well with fine runs.

3rd Place For Sheila Buckley

Almost nine hundred runners took part in this race on Thur.14th and we had a fine representation not quite as many as other years but those that ran did very well. Our first lady home and 3rd overall was Sheila Buckley showing she is really starting to come into her own. Mary O'Keeffe got 2nd O/45, Breda Sheedy took 1st O/50 and Kathleen O'Connell got 1st O/60 whilst Keva Crotty got herself a PB.. Declan Dorgan was our first man home whilst using it as a training run did a great time.
